Serendipity and Suitcases: How Travel Changed My Life
Embracing the Unknown: Adventures and Discoveries
That first journey set everything in motion. My path took me through different places in Costa Rica, starting from my own childhood town and then moving on to other regions. Along the way, I found myself constantly encountering moments of serendipity—unexpected kindnesses, chance opportunities, and small discoveries that made each day feel meaningful. I learned to embrace the feeling that there was always so much more to learn, allowing my curiosity to guide me and trying to refine it with every new experience. Eventually, I found myself in the USA—a place that, over time, became my second home.

These long-term experiences, living and growing far from my family, childhood home, and school friends, challenged me to adapt, become independent, and reshape who I am. The journey has been filled with moments of growth, teaching me resilience and helping me discover my true self beyond the familiar comforts of the past. Even now, I carry that sense of wonder and the excitement of knowing there is always more out there to explore.
Immersing in local cultures

Trying new foods and participating in local traditions became my favorite way to learn about a place. Living in the USA, surrounded by a rich mix of cultures, taught me more about different histories, traditions, and values than any guidebook ever could. Meeting people from around the world inspired me to visit their hometowns—sometimes local neighborhoods, sometimes traveling to distant countries—and deepened my appreciation for how diverse, yet connected, our experiences can be.
Overcoming language barriers

Connecting with locals often required creativity. I spent countless hours using hand gestures, drawing pictures, and sharing laughter over mispronunciations. These moments of vulnerability created genuine bonds that transcended spoken words.
